Patty Simcox From "Grease": The Transformation of Susan Buckner

A Change of Pace

Remember Patty Simcox, the bubbly cheerleader from the iconic musical "Grease"? The woman behind that memorable character, Susan Buckner, has come a long way since her time on Rydell High.

From Miss Washington to the Big Screen

Buckner's journey to Hollywood began in her home state of Washington, where she was crowned Miss Washington in 1971. After her pageant triumph, she went on to represent her state in the Miss America competition, where she placed in the top 10. Her performance at Miss America paved the way for her acting career, which took off with a role as a dancer on "The Dean Martin Show" that same year.

Buckner's breakout role came in 1978 when she was cast as Patty Simcox in "Grease." Her portrayal of the optimistic and slightly naive cheerleader left a lasting impression on audiences. However, after "Grease," Buckner's acting career took a different turn.
